With only three staff members and a budget of approximately $557,000, EcoViva is a lean and effective organization which dedicates significant funding to grantmaking and capacity-building in Central America. At the height of the global recession in 2009, we planned our budget effectively, ending the year with a small surplus.

Charitable contributions from institutions and individual donors continue to be our largest sources of support. Additionally, we have diversified our revenue through the Community Empowerment Tours program, which we anticipate will grow by at least 40% in 2010.

Thanks to our low overhead costs, EcoViva maintains a 4-star status with Charity Navigator, the leading evaluator of philanthropic effectiveness.
